CLINICIANS
Nathan K. Swisher, Psy.D., CAS
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Addiction Specialist with my Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (2011) from Rosemead School of Psychology, Biola University, an APA-accredited program in Los Angeles County. At Rosemead, I was trained in psychological assessment and multiple psychotherapy models. I was able to train in several treatment settings, including the La Habra City School District, Biola University Counseling Center, South Bay TIES for Families program through Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and then a community mental health for my full-time internship in Colorado Springs. In Colorado Springs, I worked in adult outpatient, acute inpatient, rural, and primary care settings. Most recently, I have worked in community mental health in Northern Colorado with an adult outpatient population and started my private practice in 2013. In May of 2019 I was fortunate to join the Pathways group in Greeley.
I currently provide psychotherapy for individuals, families, and couples of all ages. Therapy offers a unique opportunity to make changes in your life through various means: discovering personal insights, adopting new behavioral or thinking patterns, strengthening attachment bonds with loved ones, improving communication skills, and more.
My approach draws from various forms of psychotherapy: Emotion Focused Therapy, psychodynamic, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. For couples’ treatment, I mostly draw from Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, and PREPARE/ENRICH couples assessments. I also provide testing/evaluation for adults: general diagnosis/personality testing, cognitive ability, and achievement testing, or both. My approach is collaborative and strength-based, and it would be my pleasure to work with you.
